We give service in central Israel between Gedera and Hadera. In the northern region between Emek Hefer, Tivon and Haifa. We also reach Jerusalem and the surrounding area.
As long as you have a minimum of 6 hours direct sunlight all types of vegetables can be grown at home. The main limitation is the size of the area you have to grow in.
The cost of establishing an edible garden varies between gardens. It depends on the size of the area, accessibility, nature of the project, location and other variables. This is why we start each design process by visiting the location for a consultation meeting. Here we define the essence of the project with the client and collect the necessary data to price it.
Definately not. Vegetables can be grown very successfully in potting mix in containers on rooftops, balconies and even windowsills. The size of the container will determine the variety and type of vegetables that can be grown.
Although hydroponics is now very popular in Israel we don’t deal with this technique because, in our experience, these systems are prone to technical failures and leave the customer dependent on the professional that installed the system. After providing service to hundreds of customers, we can confidently say that in the vast majority of cases there is no need to install wall-hung systems that require electricity, pumps and fertilizers. We see it as a waste of resources and money.
In general, vegetables aren’t very successful in full shade. Vegetables that do better in partial shade are mainly leafy greens such as Swiss chard, New Zealand spinach, parsley, green onions, curly lettuce and sometimes even cherry tomatoes.
In our opinion, the best way to deal with “pests” is by creating a healthy “immune system” in the garden and allowing food chains to form and grow stronger in the garden. You can read more about this in our (Hebrew) blog, here.
