HaAchim restaurant garden, Tel Aviv
HaAchim restaurant garden in Tel Aviv, where fruit trees grow wild, herbs and grapevines adorn the patio and lush vegetable patches greet the diners upon entry. Have you visited the edible garden yet?
Though Covid may feel like a lifetime ago, it was a time when many businesses suffered and many restaurants were forced to close their doors. But for those who had more luck and creative solutions, it was a chance to upgrade their restaurants, shift concepts and roll with the times.
Brothers Asaf and Yotam Doktor did just that by moving their restaurant concept “outdoors” and adding edible gardens to their restaurants.
HaAchim, the largest of their restaurants was relocated from its original Ibn Gvirol address to the larger ZOA House TLV complex (Ibn Gvirol 27), expanding its outdoor space tenfold with a 350 square meter courtyard and large patio.
It was important for the brothers to use this space to establish a lush, mediterranean food garden that would resonate with its geographic location and with the unique culinary language of their restaurants – using the freshest, all-Israeli produce.
For this reason, we designed a diverse garden filled with fruit trees, seasonal vegetables, herbs and spices synonymous with the mediterranean and Tel Aviv.
You may recognize the entrance by its lush vegetable garden, or large poinciana flame tree. Other examples of local plants we added include a mastic tree, oak, citrus trees, sageleaf rockrose (cistus salviifolius), viburnum tinus and more.
Go visit HaAchim restaurant garden and see if you can recognize them!
